THE OUTDOORS

Enjoy the beauty of the majestic landscape thanks to the many footpaths and hiking trails to be explored on foot, bicycle or horseback.

We recommend the following main hikes to be done alone or with a partner guide:

 

  • Cirque d’Archiane (4 hour walk, 400 m climb)

The Cirque d’Archiane is a natural mountain cirque located in the south of the Vercors massif. It is an entrance to the Hauts Plateaux of the Vercors nature reserve (the largest reserve in France) and an essential stopover for hikers and climbing enthusiasts. Classified site where ibexes were reintroduced in 1989.

 

  • Glandasse (walk 4 hours, 400 m climb)

Towering over the Drôme valley and the Diois the massive Glandasse attracts a crowd of hikers every summer. In addition to the beauty of the landscape, its fauna and flora are remarkable, in the high plateaux of the Vercors Nature Reserve, the Glandasse mountain is a paradise for wild mammals.

 

  • Mont Barral (five hour walk, 500 m climb)

The ascent of Mont Barral dominates the area with breathtaking views of the Oisans and Dévoluy mountains. The route takes you along the ridge that separates the Drôme from the Isère. Descend over the ridge and the Jiboui pass into magnificent wild flower meadows, grazed by sheep in the summer months.

 

  • Vallon de Combeau (six hour walk, 600 m climb)

The Vallon de Combeau is best known for its exceptional flora. In all seasons it is good to stroll around and it is both visited by families looking for a beautiful picnic spot and by experienced hikers who want to discover the special atmosphere of the Vercors high plateau. You can climb to the Chevalière head, a spectacular viewpoint for the Mont-Aiguille, the emblematic summit of the Vercors.

 

  • Font d’Urle Plateau (four hour walk, 400 m climb)

Hiking on the Font d’Urle plateau, a vast karst limestone plateau. Partial route of the interpretation trail on the theme of geology and ascent of the Puy de la Gagère, summit which dominates both the Quint valley and the Diois and is home to chamois and big horn sheep.

 

  • Les sucettes de Borne (six hour walk, 500 m climb)

Hike past the lollipop shaped rock formations, geological curiosities, to the Tower refuge at the foot of Mount Bellemotte.
